Aiden Lee, Devyn Montiel Take Over

The course at Nogales High School is a favorite for many high school cross country student-athletes because of how difficult the course is. Returners Aiden Lee and Devyn Montiel both set new personal records at the Battle at the Border Invitational on 9/10/22 and earned their spots at the top of the lists for FHS XC.

Lee (SO) was our boys' team's top finisher at the Coolidge HS Meet on 8/31/22, and he continued his improvements and dropped close to a whole minute off his previous best mark with his 20:34 finish. Montiel (SR) shaved nearly 3 minutes off her best mark from back in 2020 with her 25:54 finish, moving to the top of the list for our girls' team. With both of their previous PR's set on flatter/less technical courses, this bodes well for the successes they will achieve throughout the rest of this season.

Andrea Burns (JR), Devon Lindenstein (JR), Kutuba Zimba (JR), and Sean Prendergast (SR) posted finishing times that were not too far behind their PR's (Burns 27:55, Lindenstein 22:08, Zimba 22:59, Prendergast 23:47). In just our second race of the season (and the first race this season for Prendergast), this provides some promise as we move along down the competition schedule.

Zora Fedor (FR) and Hannah Garcia (FR) got their first look at the invitational experience, conquering what we believe is the most difficult course they will face this season and setting their marks, finishing 30:24 and 37:47 respectively.
