Desert Twilight is by far one of the biggest highlights of the competition season. The schedule is packed with races starting 10-15 minutes from the early afternoon, all through the night.
The Small School Freshman races are the first races of the entire event. Due to the excessive heat, the freshman races were moved down to a 1.6-mile race distance. This led to some fast starts and some dramatics at the finish line!
Blayze Coronel and Jet Girardi of Blue Ridge gave the fans a show as they came sprinting into the final stretch, Coronel finishing just 3 seconds behind Girardi for 2nd place in a field of 175 runners.
FHS XC had several PR performances, but Coronel was the only medal finisher of the night.
