FHS XC Finds Paradise

Competition season always seems so far away once official practice sessions begin. This year, FHS XC got the season started sooner than later.

Having a twilight race on the first date allowed for competition this season was a perfect way to get started. The Opening Night in Paradise Invitational at Asante Park on 8/28/23 allowed our new runners a chance to see what 5K racing looks like on a flat course without battling the sun in this extreme heat.

Our returning runners were able to post times within striking distance of their PRs. Elsie Hansen and Andrea Burns both finished less than 1 minute behind their PRs (Hansen 25:41, Burns 28:08). They look to lead the way this season for our girls' team. Devon Lindenstein finished in 21:12, just over 1 minute behind his PR.

Glow Sticks, a flat course, and an evening of cross country running... there's no better way to get the 2023 competition season started.
