Hot Race at Kenilworth Park

The 2022 FHS XC Season kicked on 8/31/22 at the Meet Hosted by Coolidge HS at Kenilworth Park. If the triple-digit temperature wasn't enough, the girls' race ran into a few technical difficulties.

At the start of the girls' race, the first race of the day, the entire field ran the wrong way down the course, leading to a bit of confusion. The CHS Coaching Staff modified the course on the fly, and the girls' race continued as best as they could to get close to the 5K distance.

The boys' race ran much smoother, and they were able to run the compete course but with the hot temperatures out on the course, all our runners could do was post base-level finishing times.

Our newcomers got their first taste of the cross country raceday experience, and we can build from here.

Alexandria Garcia and Madison Cruz tried to tough it out, fighting nagging injuries, but both runners had to pull out of the race and head back to injured list.

FHS XC now has their sights set on the Battle at the Border Invitational at Nogales HS on 9/10/22.
