One Last Go-Round at State

Bryce Coffey has qualified to compete at the Division III Cross Country State Championships in each season he's competed for FHS XC. Coming off his 11th place finish at Sectionals, Coffey set his sights on State. The 2020 season was a constant trek through unfamiliar territory in the midst of a global pandemic, but the AIA was able to safely guide us through a full competition season.

State Championships this year took place at Crossroads Park, the same site Coffey and FHS XC ran their Sectionals race. Restricted fields, restricted spectator capacities, extensive check-in protocols, and it was time to start the race on 11/12/20. A finishing time below that 18-minute mark has eluded Coffey all season, but that was about to change at State.

After a solid week of training, Coffey set a new PR in his final race as a member of FHS XC. Coffey finished 43rd of 107 runner at the AIA Division III XC State Championships with his 17:54.6 finishing time. After running the best race of his high school cross country career, Coffey stepped off the course at Crossroads Park knowing he accomplished what he set out to do.
