Returners Venture Into New Events
Returning athletes Sean Prendergast (JR) and Lillian Hansen (JR), each in their second years of competition, started out the 2022 season by expanding their track & field worth.
Prendergast, who was a key-contributor to the mid-distance races last season and was a permanent fixture on the 4 x 400m and 4 x 800m relay teams, has ventured into the open 400m and the long jump. Hansen, a mid-distance stand-out last season, has ventured into the 200m and 400m races. She is also preparing to enter into the 300H event as the season progresses.
Prendergast got his first shot at the open 400m at the VCHS Non- Qualifier on 3/2/22, where he finished 6th overall (56.28). At the Bulldog Invitational on 3/11/22, Prendergast finished 9th overall in the 400m (58.37), and tried his hand at the long jump where he finished 10th overall (16-07.5).
Hansen ventured into the sprinting events, where she may find future success in the 400m. Hansen, who has been the team's top female 800m and 1600m runner, finished 5th overall in the 400m (1:10.24) at the Bulldog Invitational. Although she narrowly missed the podium on 3/11/22, there is plenty of room for her to have an impact in this event.
